Where to recycle large electricals

Large electricals are items that are the same size as, or bigger than, a microwave. These items are easy to recycle but usually need to be taken to a recycling centre or collected separately.

Cooling appliances

This includes items that cool using refrigerants, such as:

  • Fridges
  • Freezers
  • Domestic air conditioning units

These appliances contain hazardous chemicals that must be removed safely. They can be recycled at Household Recycling Centres or through your council’s bulky waste collection service. (visit your council's website for more information)

TVs, screens and monitors

TVs and monitors contain valuable materials found on circuit boards and screens.

They can be recycled:

  • At Household Recycling Centres
  • Through bulky waste collections
  • Via retailer take-back schemes when buying a replacement item

General large appliances

Examples include:

  • Microwaves
  • Air fryers
  • Vacuum cleaners
  • Electric heaters

These items can be recycled at Household Recycling Centres or through bulky waste collections offered by your local council. (visit your council's website for more information)
