Great Big Green Week 2026

6–14 June 2026

Great Big Green Week is the UK’s biggest celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature. During the week, people across the country come together to take part in local events, activities and simple actions that make a positive difference for the planet.

In Gloucestershire, Great Big Green Week is a great opportunity to focus on everyday actions that help reduce waste, protect natural resources and support a more sustainable future.

Simple actions can include:

  • reducing food waste by planning meals and using leftovers
  • composting food and garden waste at home
  • repairing, reusing or donating unwanted items
  • recycling more and checking what can be recycled locally
  • cutting down on single-use plastics

These small changes help reduce waste, save money and lower carbon emissions — and when communities act together, the impact is even greater.

Get involved during Great Big Green Week:

  • Use your local food waste collection or try home composting
  • Find out what you can recycle using the Waste Wizard
  • Support repair cafes and reuse to keep items in use for longer
  • Take simple steps to reduce waste at home
