Empty can with label that reads open by 9am and use by 6.15pmRecycling is made even easier at household recycling centres, with the same opening hours all year round.

All five of the County Council’s Household Recycling Centres are to open every day (excluding Christmas Day and New Year’s Day) from 9am until 6.15pm.

Currently the opening hours alter twice a year at the start and end of British Summertime. However, from March 28th, the new times will come into effect, and will then remain unchanged all year round.

Cllr Stan Waddington, Cabinet member for the Environment said: “Gloucestershire residents now have to remember just one set of opening hours, so recycling at the Household Recycling Centre has never been easier.”

“The recycling and composting levels at all of the sites have been very impressive – this year we have exceeded our 65 per cent target – and we want this upward trend to continue.”

“There is a huge range of household items that can be recycled, and we urge the public to make full use of the facilities we have available.”

“Reducing the amount of waste which goes to landfill is a top priority, as a further increase in Landfill Tax is just around the corner.”

Details of the new opening hours will be promoted in the press and on the radio. In addition, a flyer explaining the changes [PDF 900KB], will be handed out to the public at the Household Recycling Centres.

For more details on the locations of each Household Recycling Centre and what items can be taken there can be found on this website.
