Residents in Gloucestershire are being urged to bag a bargain 330 litre compost bin for just £5 (plus £5 for postage and packaging).
Over the past 5 years Gloucestershire County Council in partnership with the Recycle Now Home Composting Campaign has sold nearly 35,000 compost bins in the County.
In recognition of this milestone, the biggest selling compost bin – the 330 litre – is now being offered at a 'super saver' price. However the £5.00 offer applies to 3000 of these compost bins, and once these are sold out, the price will revert back to £15 (plus £5 postage and packaging)
Three main types of compost bins are currently available at the following prices:
- 220 litre - £12.00 plus £5.00 delivery
(MRP £39.00) - 330 litre - £5.00 plus £5.00 delivery (MRP £49.00)
'Super Saver' offer - STRICTLY LIMITED STOCKS - 320 litre KOMP - £35.00 plus £5.00 delivery
(MRP £81.00)
Residents, who haven’t yet taken advantage of these fantastic offers, must do so by no later than September 30th, after which the scheme ends.
Everyone who buys a compost bin can opt for a free kitchen caddy, for conveniently storing all of their compostable waste, before it’s transferred to the compost bin.

Nick Baker, Waste Reduction Advisor in Gloucestershire for WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme) said: “It is a fantastic achievement to sell so many bins during the last 5 years.
“So many more residents will be benefiting from making their own compost and thousands of tonnes of biodegradable waste have been diverted from landfill”
Councillor Stan Waddington, Cabinet Member for the Environment said: “We want to encourage as many people as possible to compost at home. This deals with waste at source and saves many thousands of pounds of local taxpayers’ money.”
“A wide range of waste can go in a compost bin – such as tea bags, grass cuttings, shredded paper, cereal boxes, fruit and vegetable peelings, wool and egg shells.”
