Competition proves fruitful for Gloucestershire schools
Prizes will be awarded early in the New Year to eight Gloucestershire schools that took part in a tree modelling competition.
Youngsters were set the task of producing a tree from aluminium foil and canswith the aim of encouraging recycling. The tree had to be at least 2 foot high, but no more than 8 feet. Judging took place at Gloucester City Museum. The winning schools were as follows
Primary School results
- 1st place Harewood Junior School (Gloucester)
- 2nd place (joint) Bettridge Special School (Cheltenham) and Woolaston School (Lydney)
- 3rd place Churchdown Village Junior School (nr Gloucester)
Secondary School results
- 1st place Stroud High School
- 2nd place Thomas Keeble School (Eastcombe nr Stroud)
- 3rd place (joint) Tewkesbury School, Milestone School (Gloucester) working with Brockworth Enterprise School (nr Gloucester)
The winning primary and secondary schools will receive a camcorder courtesy of competition sponsors Avon Metals Ltd, Gloucester. Runners up prizes include £100 for second place and £50 for third place. All of the schools who took part in the competition will receive a native fruit tree of their choice, to plant in the school grounds.
A prize giving award ceremony will take place on Friday January 11th 2008 at Shire Hall in Gloucester when the winning entries will also be on display.
